A representative of contemporary Breton music and a pioneer of video mapping in traditional music, PLANTEC combines acoustic music and sound design around original compositions, keeping tradition as its DNA and a modern vision as its trademark.
Founded in 2002, the band consists of Yannick Plantec (guitar and mandolin), Odran Plantec (bombard and flute) and Gabriel Bouchard (electronics and percussion). Their music is deeply rooted in Breton tradition, but imbued with contemporary elements that give freshness and innovation to their performances.
Yannick's virtuoso guitar lines and Odran's melodic parts on the bombarda create a distinctive sound, while Gabriel's electronics and percussions add a contemporary rhythmic layer. This fusion results in energetic and danceable songs that often accompany Breton dances such as the fest noz, a traditional Breton dance party.
In two decades of career, the band released eight albums that delighted both critics and audiences. Their first album, "Déambulations" (2005), immediately attracted attention with its innovative approach to Breton music. Albums like "Mouvement" (2008), "A-Raok" (2011) and "Kontakt" (2017) followed, each with a unique blend of traditional and modern elements.
Performing at numerous festivals across Europe, known for their energy and interaction with the audience, they often include visual projections and light effects, creating a complete audiovisual experience.
Plantec is a band that successfully balances between preserving tradition and introducing innovation, creating music that is both rooted in the past and open to the future. Their unique sound, energetic performances and dedication to Breton culture make them prominent ambassadors of the Breton music scene.
Their concert in the Small Roman Theater is an invitation to travel through time and space, where old and new worlds meet, creating a magical musical experience that delights all generations.
