feat Jim Rotondi

The second night of Jazz Waves brings a first-class edition of straight ahead jazz at a concert featurng the Jaka Kopač Quintet who will be joined by the legendary trumpeter Jim Rotondi. Rotondi's trumpet is what you hear when you close your eyes and think of jazz. Friday, May 30, is an opportunity to experience jazz in its original form in a unique setting under a star-dotted sky.

The ensemble, composed of top musicians who have honed their craft with countless performances on stages around the world, is composed of Jaka Kopač (alto saxophone), Jim Rotondi (trumpet), Joshua Ginsburg (double bass), Renato Chicco (piano) and Vladimir Kostadinović (drums). An interesting, international collective of musical masters will perform a combination of Rotondi's original compositions and classic jazz standards.

Jaka Kopač, as one of the leading jazz alto saxophonists of the younger generation, stands out with a modern musical expression complemented by a warm sound and urban energy. After studying jazz saxophone at the prestigious academy in Graz, Kopač quickly became active on the jazz scene, and his numerous performances attracted the attention of audiences and critics, which brought him numerous awards and opportunities to collaborate with many famous musicians.

Jim Rotondi is one of the most recognizable trumpeters of the jazz scene, playing for international crowds for more than 30 years. He grew up in a musical family, where he played the first notes on the piano, but from the age of 12 he showed an extraordinary talent for the trumpet. His musical career includes collaborations with many legends of the music scene such as Ray Charles, Lionel Hampton, Jon Hendricks, Lou Donaldson, Woody Shaw and Freddie Hubbard. Rotondi is not present on the jazz scene only as a performer, but also as a mentor and teacher to young musicians, sharing his rich experience and knowledge.

Joshua Ginsburg is an American jazz bassist and composer. He collaborated with many famous names in jazz music and is known for his rhythmic precision, strong sound and ability to support solo performances.

Renato Chicco is a pianist and organist who developed his expression at the Academy in Graz and the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Throughout his rich career, Renato has performed with many jazz legends. He continues his career as a professor of jazz improvisation at the University of Music in Graz and performs all over the world, leaving an indelible mark with his performances and interpretations.

Vladimir Kostadinović, a drummer and one of the most sought-after musicians on the European jazz scene. His playing skills and passion for music have brought him recognition all over the world. Vladimir collaborated with many great jazz names such as Benny Golson, George Garzone, Antonio Farao and Gregory Porter.
